“Clash of Tempos: Making Sense of Ecological Balance Today for Tomorrow” with Dr. Elizabeth Andrew-Essien, University of Calabar
Ecological systems are regulated by a number of biological, physical and chemical factors that act in consonance to stabilize environmental processes. The stability of these processes has benefited successive generations of mankind through time. In recent years however, increased population growth rates, inclusive of agricultural and urban development, high consumption trends with attendant outcomes, have exerted unapparelled pressures on the environment to promote tilts towards ecological in-balances that favour humans at the detriment of the natural environment. The triggers of ecological-human tempos account for the numerous environmental challenges that affect both mankind and the environment. It is obvious that the clash of ecological-human processes if not checked and controlled, will continue to deplete and degrade the environment wherein man is a constituent.
